Description
Suckley is a gentle antidote for these dark times. I like his hat. – Tirley Deerhurst, Post Box Topper Knitting Group
My great-uncle is the best, but he can’t flip pancakes. – Almeley, Alfrick Suckley’s great-niece
Suckley certainly stands out albeit in a peculiar fashion. – Leo ‘Lickey’ Minster, Ceilidh caller
Driving on the scenic A4103 from Hereford to Worcester and slowing down in the hamlet of Leigh Sinton (speed camera!), you will pass, on your left, a signpost to the villages of Alfrick and Suckley. Names so intriguing that they had to be given to an English gentleman whose life, thoughts and opinions are captured in the stories of this little book.
Written by a German who immigrated to Hereford 15 years ago, Alfrick Suckley nosedives, in peculiar fashion, into English culture and beyond.
Each story contains exactly 100 words (not including the title), a fact Mr Suckley would thoroughly appreciate.
Christof Meckel-Veal was born 1972 in Solingen, Germany. After studying German Literature and Cultural Sciences, he worked as a playwright and theatre director. In 2009 he moved to Herefordshire where he practices as a registered social worker.
