Description

Ince was born in London but brought up in Presteigne from a very early age after his father joined a medical practice in the town shortly after the start of the Napoleonic Wars. He studied in Hereford under the tuition of David Cox, then spent much time in London where many members of the family lived, travelled around parts of the UK to undertake work, notably to Oxford and Hastings, then a favourite haunt of painters, returning at times to visit his father in Presteigne. From this base he also explored and painted parts of Wales.

This book explains the influences on Ince in his early career, the breadth of his work, as well as exploring his family life and wider connections.
